David I've shipped a couple motors packing them in rubbermaid containters and then drilling holes in the lid and then running zip ties thru to keep it closed, Fed ex seems to be the cheapest if you are close to a terminal, just drop it off there.

Styrofoam cooler, fill with peanuts after engine is in, duct tape the PI$$ out of it so the cooler can take the abuse from the shippers and then put the cooler in a cardboard box with extra packing around the cooler.
Its alot of packing but its still low in weight and packaged well to avoid damage.
I bought one on ebay with just peanuts around it in a cardboard box! I was amazed it was in one piece by the look of the box, but that engine weighed 98lbs and a plain box can't handle that much weight.
The only problem with the styrofoam cooler idea is anything bigger than 200cc probably won't fit.

I have to give you guys some credit on these ideas!!!!!! I love the rubbermaid idea! BUT I might add......for anyone thinking of this idea, DO NOT USE the rubermaid knock-offs, I have those cheap POS ones in my garage and they are JUNK! Next time i'm spending the extra $3 for the Rubbermaid!
