Default big red help

The other day i busted out the bigred.. Things got complicated... Going down the street in 3rd when the engine dies on me.. All i can here is clinking and i push her home.. The bolts that hold the cam chain gear on sheard off. luckily i have 2 spear part machines in the back. Any way after putting it all together set the timeing and honda bond the top i let it sit... Came out in the morning after everything dried and tried starting it.. IT wanted to start but would only turn over a couple times.. Do u think i could have adjusted the valves wrong would that make this happen.. The carb is clean and the plugs is brand new.. I need help..

thanks alex

hmmm, maybe the cam is locking up? That's probably why the bolts sheared in the first place. I'd say when she gets warm the cam is locking up and the same thing is going to happen again, but if it doesn't cause any real damge and you are fine with it try it again. Did you get the bolt heads out of the motor or are they in the bototm of the case waiting to get sucke inot the crank?

I ran it for like 2 years then put it away for like maybe 5 days and then the cam bolts broke... And yes i got all of the bolts out of the crankcase and all the shavings out i was out there with a magnet for like 3 hours...everything is working good but it just won't run??? any ideas about that.

thanks alex

that's weird. Maybe the cam is 180 degrees out? Other than that it really doesn't make much sense outside the ever popular bent valve? Take out the plug and try to get a look at the top of the piston to see if there is a mark on it from one of the valves being hit by it as it came up.
