Default ATC 110 - Slow Jet

I just picked up a 1982 ATC 110. "She" would idle great and run ok with the choke on, but would spit and sputter and stall out with the choke off and anything more than 1/8th throttle. I yanked the carb off and gave it a good cleaning, but in the process I found that the slow jet was plugged solid. I couldn't get it cleared out. Anyway, who makes the best carb kit out there? I noticed they where about $15 at Denniskirk. Do they come with the slow jet? Most of the ones I have looked at show them in the picture, but I figured I'd ask the experts. Also, what do you recommend for and upgrade to the stock air filter? I really don't want a K&N, just something better than the 1982 version. Will the '83 airbox fit?

Thanks for the help.

The only time you really need to buy a carb kit is if there is somthing wrong with your needle. Dig up an old throttle or brake cable, cut it and fray the wires out. Pick out one single strand and clean the jet out with it. Also, are you sure it is the slow jet that is clogged? The pilot/slow jet controls the idle and the main jet/needle controls the rest. When the pilot jet clogs the trike wont idle but if you get it started you can rev it up. If the main jet clogs then it will idle but it won't take the gas. As for the air filter, I would go with a UNI.

I agree with hmfic. But torch tip cleaners are better for cleanin them out. If you have some layin around they are good for cleanin the jets out. They are very thin but yet strong.

Torch tip cleaners are easier to use than the wire just don't get to happy-go-lucky and change the actual size of the jet.

Thanks for the info guys. It was the pilot jet. I installed a new one Saturday and the 110 now runs like a top. I did try to unplug it with a needle, torch cleaners, and wire. None of that worked. Whatever it was that was plugging the jet was in there very good. Once again, thanks for the info.
