More out of an R???? That one always baffles me...those things are plenty fast if you ask me. But if you really NEED more power, try a pipe and rejetting. That will give you the most bang for your buck.

Change your front sprocket to a 12 tooth, have your jug ported with new piston installed, bigger carb, new pipe, k&n filter and have it re-jetted. That thing will really be woken up. Then you will need a longer swing arm to keep the front end down. All that for about a grand. If you can, have it dyno tuned, this will net you a few more ponies

Both ESR and Paul Turner make great 250R pipes IMO. Most doubt, but I believe the Paul Turner high rev is the best all around ATC pipe for the 250R. I have rode quite a few different R's with diffrent types of pipes, the Fatty is the most popular, but very disappointing when switching to either and ESR or Paul Turner. Stock motor the Fatty does pretty decent, but a moded motor is where you see the difference.

Buy a pipe.(ESR trx11 is what we run for dragging) Port CORRECTLY. Raise the compression and run 110 octane. Stroke it. Gear properly. Use proper size carb. Jet properly, dynojet if possible. 310 jugs aren't hard to find but just buying one from anybody is not a great idea. They could have improper port work for your application.
