I bought klunker with an excellent strong engine, but starter rope keeps breaking.Don't know if it has too much compression,or what it might be.Need to know if it's possible to put an electric start on or would it be too much trouble. Also, would love to find parts cheap locally in Florida or cheap mail order.

First of all, be sure to use actual recoil rope. Just some poly rope isnt going to cut it. You can buy the right rope anywhere that deals with lawn equipment. You need the 1/4 inch...nothing less.
If it still breaks, you have something inside the starter assembly actually rubbing the rope causing it to break.

A 13:1 piston without using the decomp feature still wouldnt break a good 1/4 inch rope, so special mods or an electric starter are not required.
