310 short rod vs long rod

Default 310 short rod vs long rod

I have an ESR 310 short rod in my trike and want to go to a long rod but it requires me getting a spacer plate and my spark plug boot allready hits the frame everytime i change a plug I have to take my gas tank off anyone else have this problem what did you do to fix it any suggestions thank you

i bet you have a aftermarket head that the plug screws into strait up in the middle.

if you get a stock head and have it redomed for teh 310 i bet you will be allrite

and teh stock heads have a motor mont on them that bolts to teh top frame tube . wich would be good to have running a 310 long rod. i have cracked the frames on these bikes 2 different times at the bottom motor mount when not running the top mount and having a strong hopped up motor.

If he ran a long rod with the stock head the head/frame mount wouldn't line up because of the extra hight of the cylinder with the spacer plate under it.

good point.

i recomend trying to make a mount then, a little strap of steel with a few bolts through it ,should not be to hard to make.

i think the stock head would be easyer to get the spark plug in and out of though
