big red not running

Hi
Im new to the forum but ive been looking at it for quite a while.
My problem is I have a 84 honda 200es that i rebuilt the engine and afterward ran great for a while, but then lost spark. Ive since replaced the coil and the stator. I also bought a cdi online that didnt make any difference. I also got a pulser from a buddy and switched it out but still no luck. Also the wiring is in good shape. I get one or two sparks when i start cranking and then nothing. Im at a loss im not sure what to do next. I get voltage off the stator, the coil is new, and the pulser checked out between 20 and 30 ohms. So i just dont get it. If someone can give me a hint id appreciate it thanks.

Once when my van was stalling on me I hooked a timing light up to one of the wires to tell me if I was still getting a spark signal when the engine died. If you have access to a timing light you could try that. When I fouled the plug on my 200M it would still spark as long as the plug was out but when it was screwed back into the engine it wouldnt even sputter.

we have an 83 atc200, only had spark if I pulled the starter rope really fast , it ended up being a bad plug. it looked great so I would replace the plug again if you have not yet done that do that.

update: I did the ohms test on the cdi that i have per the specs posted on another topic, and my cdi failed the test. Or at least im pretty sure it failed. Is there anyone that could let me borrow a good cdi to test it and see if thats whats wrong before i go and buy one. Im in Homewood Illinois. The number on the cdi is 969

The regulator/rectifier has nothing to do with spark, It'll run without it. Check the exciter coil resistance (black wire w/ red stripe) coming from stator. Stick the red wire of your meter in the plug and the black on the engine case (ground) Should be around 100 ohms. If that is what you are saying is 20 or 30, thats too weak of a spark. Do you have a manual? Mine is for the 82-83 200e Big Red, but most of this stuff is the same. If not check out 3wheelerworld.com and do a search, you'll find one you can download.

My exciter coil is putting out 20+ volts so that should be fine. But im still getting one or two sparks when i hit the starter and thats it. Yesterday I went over all the connections with electrical connector cleaner and dielectric grease but that made no difference. Im stumped
