Default Three wheelers dangerous.

Today Everything is dangerous
Unless there is a sign
Why would being on a Quade be any safer if you are a poor rider or ride stupid makes no difference
But 3 wheels are fun and do hone good riding skils
Stay safe

Default Three wheelers dangerous.

I had bought a Kawasaki KLX 200 in 1984 and it only put me in the hospital 1 time. The first time I went out riding. Rocks in my back a few time and was up side down many times. My friend bought a '84 Tecate 250. It flipped over backwards so many times the frame broke off under the seat. It only put me in the hospital once as well. The rear brake caliper fell off while I was riding it and I could stop before a big rock got us.

I could say most of the problems were related to the fact I graduated from high school in '84 and was young, dumb and bullet proof. But at the end of the day I still don't think they were as safe as quads. But what is safe? There has to be an accepticable amount of danger in any recreational activity or no one would participate. Any racing activity is dangerous or they wouldn't make safety equipment. I hope I never see the day when I think sitting around and playing checkers is exciting.

+1....you got to know what your doing on a 3-wheeler not to get hurt. a quad is much for Newbie friendly.</end quote></div>

I wouldnt say more newbie friendly, just openly accepted. </end quote></div>

I would, they are like a sit-down jet ski (Sea Doo) compared to a stand up jet ski (kawasaki), any fatty in a swimsuit can ride a Sea-Doo, a stand up is harder to ride, but faster and more manoverable and as a result more dangerous. I like quads, dont get me wrong, but I think the reason I like them is that they are the next evolution of ATCs. Because of the ban, all new technology went into ATVs and not ATCs. I have seen some conversions with newer model ATVs turned into ATCs and they are AWSOME, The last one I saw was a 660R raptor converted into an ATC. My draw to ATCs is; My grandpa had one and he sold it to me almost new in 85 for $200. it was an 85 atc 110.

Default Three wheelers dangerous.

My Buddies and I got back in to our vintage three wheelers a couple years ago after listening to everyone whine as to why they were not keeping up while riding
we had gotten spoiled with these new rides out there as they are great to ride
We go to Glamis on a regular basis
So we decided we would All get 3 wheelers
One Rule
No Suspension
We now have quite the variety of bikes we usually ride at night in the Dunes at Glamis that way we cannot see how big that dune really is we are trying to ride
We have really honed our riding skills
Every move is strategic as none of us has allot of power
Although we have all been locating vintage speed equipt they are still slow by todays standards
Our biggest issue now is we go out riding for the weekend used to fit all in one truck and trailer
Now two weeks ago 9 people
9 Quads
7 three wheelers
was a blast

We will be doing our own what we call Trike Fest
May at Buttercup
Three wheelers only
Everyone is tuning
Sofar we are going to take
10 three wheelers all non suspend
Can't wait

Default Three wheelers dangerous.

I currently have for myself
2- Honda 110 1982
1- Honda 185S 1982

The 185S is stock with a Header and Supertrap

One of my 110s
Is Bored 1mm with a cam and header with Supertrap
Aluminum wheels all around with 185S handle bars
Changed rear sprocket to a 52 tooth to pull Dunes easier
My other 110
Not sure what is done internal has header with muffler
with 52 tooth sprocket
Also put plastic Clark tanks on all my bikes as the Sunoco fuel is hard on the stock tanks I mix 50/50 Gives me about 100 octaine
Rust bad

I have found most of my buddies bikes fixed for them
They are
2- Honda 110s 1983
1- Honda 70 1982 Gave to Godson First bike Restored

His Dad has
1- Honda 110 now on Bandito Frame as of yesterday
1- Honda 70 we are fixing up in my shop
3- Honda 90s various stages

We seem to be getting quite the collection
We are trying to keep all old school
Thanks
Ray

I have seen those Bandito Frames on ebay before, what is the advantage of them? the motor is not strong enough to stress the stock frame, so is it just lighter?

I have hurt myself more on a 4 wheeler than i ever did on my 350x.... And I rode it just as hard as any 4 wheeler. Just have to respect them, kinda like the guy siad about the seedoos/jetskis

Ya iv done sum wicked things on my 200x and had some close calls just because its technology from 1985. I love my x but the suspension is very limited im lookin at a 250r they still have good suspension by todays standards. I can honestly just bout ride my 200x as good as my yfz just because i was raised on it and kno what its gona do. I like 3 wheelers but they aint gona last 4 ever. i would kill to see honda come out with a 3 wheeler with todays technology.
