1983 250R
#2
I have a 1983 250r also. I bought it off of ebay and needless to say it was junk and the guy lied. So I am now going to fire it up for the first time since last April. Anyway when I had my tranny replaced b/c the 4th and 2nd gear teeth were stripped the guy found out that my new piston I bought was to small!! That means I have a 300 kit in my engine. You can always do that. Have it bored over so many (ie. .25, .50 .75 1.00). That will give you power. You can also mess w/ the teeth on the sprockets(ie. more up front and less in the back) I am still learning about that and not sure which combination gives you more top end/torque or whatever. I would look into those options. Adding another gear I think is impossible!! But don't quote me on that!! Good luck and don't kill yourself!!!

Look on ebay for the 300 big bore kit also a dg head these were old hop op parts back in the 80s and u can find them every now and then. This is a lot of money though to spend and make your wheeler less reliable. Have you every thought of a 85 86 250r or 200x? Just some thought
