ok. so i just got done changing the head on an '84 atc 70 beacuse of a bad spark hole. it was apart for a week and i don't think anybody messed with the timing. i got it all back together and it just won't start, wont even try. there is strong spark, i'm sure its getting gas, but the only smell coming out of the exhaust pipe is unburnt gas. could the timing possibly have gone off when i put it on? i generally lined up the "O" on the camshaft sprocket with the notch on the head, but it wasn't perfect. my question is, is it the timing, and how do i adjust the timing? my book doesn't tell me. its not the points because it just got a new points and condenser a while ago.

Yes you line up the " T " on the flywheel with the index mark then the " o " on the cam sprocket with the index mark ..
