I looked at my 83 200X and in the manual
Tire size 22x11x8
Stock gearing is 12/40
so your trike having 14/40 would take gearing back probably to stock
But smaller tires would kill any ground clearance but would have been great for flat track racing
I would look at getting back to taller tires and then gear back to 12 front
It will probably handle better on trails
Just my thoughts
Good luck
Ray

I'd recommend staying with a 20" tire if you decide to change. The 200x does not have a ton of torque and the shorter/lighter tires will allow the bike to perform better. The 1" decrease in ground clearance between a 20" and 22" is not too bad in the terrain that I ride.
