I recently bought a 1985 honda 200M.. it works perfect, but when there is either amount of strain on the engine, puffs of blue smoke come out of the muffler... and it smells like oil... i was told it could be the valve stem seals or the oil ring on the piston..

 

yeah, probly time for a piston and rings! and send the head out and have it refreshed while your at it........youll have a new machine

well mine will do the same on my 200s and im pretty sure on mine its the needle not seating perfect in the carb and it will over flow and wash the cylinder down and will burn oil for about a second then it will clear out ..just put new valve stem seals on it too and the stems look good so if i had to guess....just another opton for ya try when done rideing ..just shut the petcock off for the night then try starting in morning see what happens

 

Its a worn piston & rings.... just change the oil & make sure it still does it.
