Exclamation 1985 250r

hi i just bought a 1985 250r. best bike ive ridin. loads of power. but. my forks are really soft my cousin said i can add a lil air to the forks and theyll be stiffer. is this true?? also if it sits for like 5 mins gas starts pouring out the over flow! so i have to pinch the line but it doesnt do this when running. so any help with my problems will be greatly appricaited. thanks.

As far as the forks unless they have been rebuilt if you add any air you will probably mess up the seals if they will hold any air anyway, all the people that I know including myself just use the stems to relieve any air the shocks may have built up while riding. And the overflow problem is either a stuck float, the float needs to be adjusted, dirty bowl, or bad needle valve.

Take the bowl off flip the carb upside down and fill the top of the bottom of the carb with water if it comes out where the fuel line goes to the carb the needle valve is bad. Also put the float in a glass of water just to make sure it dosen't sink from a small crack in it. If it's clean inside the bowl then the float isn't stuck. By the way, why did you jet it down may be leaning it out? not because of the carb issues?
