1985 200X or 1984 250R which one please help

I just traded an old Rc car for a 84 250R that is in great running condition minus the rear swingarm bearings and a brake pads. otherwise its a good 3 kick starter.
Well , This guy wants to trade me for a 1985 200x that is just about in the same condition.
Which bike is the better bike for the kids and I to ride? I was thinking about the whole 4-stroke thing verses the 2 stroke.
I know the 250 is fast for sure.
Let meknow some opinions please.

Since kids are involved I'd go with the 200x. No quite as fast, but fast enough. Both have a decent suspension. The 4 stroke is a little quieter & most likely easier to start, the 2 stroke will be more power & speed. Generally speaking a 4 stoke will last a little longer before a rebuild is needed but it all depends on how the machine was used, abused & maintained. That being said, 2 stroke are generally easier to work on, they are simpler. The engine in the 200x is a more common motor when it comes to parts. It was used in the big red 200, 200M & 200S. I also believe the frame would take the engine from a 185S which is a very close engine. Both machines are good, but if you are not racing & you want your kids to use it then the 200x may be the better choice, but just an opinion.

Thanks guys. I think I decided on keeping the R . It has had a recent top end rebuild and starts and runs perfect. After talking with the 200x guy he said that the carb needs rebuilding and I'm sure the list goes on. The R does need a new bearing set on the rear and new rims (one is bent). Otherwise its a nice good running bike. Did I mention I had $20 into the entire deal? Thank God for Craigslist.
My kids actually have a few quads they ride. I was thinking on letting my son ride this bike a few times, but I think I'll trick it out instead. I live pretty close to GLAMIS dunes, so I'll probably make me a dune toy.

Good idea keeping that 84 Airfooler bro!
Looks like a pretty good example of the second gen R. If you get a chance, pop over to airfoolers.com and show it to the guys on our forum - if you need parts, tips etc etc our airfoolers.com/forum messageboard is the place. We're dedicated to the 81-84 250R's.

I think your right. Those bikes arent very reliable. Look at the hondas. run like the energizer bunnies. I guess I'm stuck with BIG red for awhile.
Thanks again. I'm working out the kinks on it and will post up some pictures.
