3 wheeler racing returns to southern california
yes, after nearly a 30 year absence, 3 wheeler racing has returned to Southern California. ill keep this thread picture and video oriented. i know how much you guys like pics and vids.
Two races have already been run as part of the CALVMX program. those CALVMX guys really put on a great show. this last event was a tribute to our nation's armed forces with a special "wounded warrior" moto with all proceeds benefitting the wounded warrior foundation.
the three wheelers were run on the quad/Vet track at Cahuilla Creek MX in Anza, Ca.
lots of rare and modified machines showed up to race! couple bikes worthy of mention were an Honda XR500 3 wheeler conversion painted to look like an elsinore, a custom framed XR500 Nick Nicholson special, fully suspended atc110, some air cooled 250R's and big bore liquid cooled 250R's.
(the bike on the far right in the above picture is a custom framed XR500 three wheeler WITH A TURBO)
baja 500 and 1000 winner Carmen Cafro came out and really moved!
Jeremy Knisely's big bore 330 laid the smack down. he finished 1st overall in both the race on April 13th and also May 19th
David Hamm has won the stock 250 intermediate class in both races thus far on his stock liquid cooled 250R
Mike Dunn on his XR500 3 wheeler conversion airing it out. Mike went on local KUSI news a few days before the last race along with CALVMX to promote the may 19th race. what an awesome turnout
Nick Lalanne won the first moto of the april 13th race but crashed in the first turn of the 2nd moto
Shannon kennedy came out from Arizona to show support!
Greg Stachura on his 310 big bore 250R. greg won his class and put on a great show
Ed Nichols provided some awesome gopro footage. ill post that in the next post
Paul Proctor, Davin hamm, Tim Blask May 19th
Richard Maestas on a long rod 350 stroker 250R. Richard got the holeshot in both his motos
Tom Decrescente really airing it out. its suspected that the dirtbikes werent even getting this much air.

if anyone in Southern California, Arizona, or Nevada is interested in racing or just coming out to check out the fun, watch your local Craigslists for upcoming race info. alos, you can check out SoCal TrikeMX on Facebook or watch this thread for updated information
this track is very well suited for you guys who used to race or ride a trike and havent done it in ages. it is nice and long so you will get quite a workout, but there are no huge jumps or kickers. you will not have to worry about 'make it or break it' doubles.
also another interesting fact: all of the top finishers and 90% of the rest of the feild is 50+ years old
we race with CALVMX. if you have ever been to one of CALVMX's events, you know what great, family oriented events they put on. this is a great opportunity to get that trike out of the garage without all your buddies on 4 wheels lookin at you funny!

from the awesome vids you shared...looks like rear tires will also need to be exchanged...looks a little 'hard' for paddle tires with 3# pressure.
A good muscle ointment rub down, Geritol and rest; we should be ready.

anyone and everyone from all states or countries are welcome with open arms. also, modern trikes like TPC's (TPC Trikes) or Tionesta Trikes (w w w . T I O N E S T A T R I K E S . c o m - Tim Keister's Home on the Internet) or any other modern conversion, debore racer, or vintage racer are welcome to compete. in the may 19th race we even ran with an awesome couple on their KTM sidecar! heres a pic. they're just NUTS
HAHAHAHAHAHA that 350x put Frank on his butt! classic loop out moment caught on camera. every time i watch that harpers holeshot video i laugh my butt off. perfect background song choice for the 3 wheelers. makes me smile.
i would say that as far as advanced warning, the facebook page will probably announce the details of the next race first, then it'll get dispensed within the forums. either way, i hope so many trikes show up it makes the race promoters head spin! lets make it happen!
