200m engine wont start
I have a 1985 200s frame with a 200m motor sittin in, and it wont start.
Cleaned everything, carb, wiring, connection, air filter, ect. It makes sparks, gas going thru carb, air filter is clean. And still no sign of life.
I just disassemble de pull start flywheel. Under, the rotor connections are al worned out.. Could this be my problem?

Don't claim by any means to be a Honda guy other than the one I own,but we have worked on a few old 3 and 4 wheeler Hondas at the shop. Just curious have ya'll checked the valves, seems like the old ones were around .003 clearance (may be right, may be wrong) plus learned this from an older tech than me that had worked at a Honda dealership. He took a cdi from an old ATC200 and dropped it on the ground and hooked it back up and had spark and it ran for awhile.Of course the cdi was faulty and he ordered a new one,but he found the problem. Kinda shocked me at the time. And he did the same on an old TRX 200 with the same results. You might give it try for grins and giggles as it might work? If so,plenty of cdis on Ebay.

Thinks cdi module are not testable.. Local shop guy told me this today.
Manual shop gives us some values to check out from the cdi, but they are ridiculous. So i think theres no way to test em
Is there a way to bypass the thing?
BTW thanks for all reply.. Im clueless in terms of 4strokes mecanism.

Most cdis don't have specs to test. The manuals all say "replace with a known good one when testing ignition problems" which may work well at a dealership that have em laying around, but not for the average Joe. No way to bypass this as the cdi replaces the old points and condenser syatem and sends the spark directly to the coil and its also controls the timing advance also. Cdi's are fairly cheap on Ebay for these old machines, about the same price of a Clymer manual which I'd buy first to be able to check out the stator, etc before I started dumping parts into it that may not be the problem. Plus a manual can help you on future repairs..

ok. get the thing to run. problem was the main igniter unit in the magneto.
now, Ive changed the rings and gasket and its amazing how it runs well.
BUT
seems like it dont fires a the right place, cause it backfires in the muffler every time I give him lots of gas..
dont know if you guys now what could cause that..
and when it is idling, as soon as step on the throttle theres like a little time where it want to die and then it runs well...
tried adjustin throttle cable but theres nothing to do..
