What is the best way to load a Big Red onto a pickup? This is a one ton Dodge 4x4 so it sits up pretty high. What is available and where do ya get whatever it is? I was thinkin about takein my 14 foot fishin boat off the trailer and usin it after puttin a plywood bed on it. I would rather put it in the truck though.

Thanks

Gary

you case might be a bit different.....

due to the fact the bike has 3 wheels its a delema i am not to sure how to approach my self

my only suggestion is loading ramps.....err.....ya need 3 tho

considering ya wagon is 4x4......backing into a ditch would be a plan....not a bad one either

Na, nothin yet but I had some close ones. Still lookin for a Big Red. Had a guy not to far from me with one. New plastic and a slight bend in the bars. I guess it was rolled. Asked a couple of questions and had some questions about the answers. I guess it was alright but I think I'll pass on that one. Found another one but it's quite far away. If I add shippin to it it's to much for the thing. Still lookin though. I would like to talk to ya email and ask you a couple of questions if you don't mind. I still have time. Been huntin for 30 years without one and season is still months away. I'll just keep on lookin. I have seen those ramps that are three ramps wide. They would work I think but need to find out how others do this stuff. The ditch is a great idea but there not all over. At least to get to to get on and off without a hastle.

Talk to ya later

Hey pudding
I may have found one. Goin to look at it on Sunday. He said it has less than 100hrs on it and is in excellent condition. It's an 84 200. Is the high low trans a pain in the butt in the woods? Give me some tips as to what to look for to be as sure as I can it's good shape.

Thanks

Gary

they're not hard to load. I have a set of folding ramps I use. I either drive them up on my 2wd pickup or on my dads Z71 I just stand next to it working the throttle and let it pull itself up into the truck.

Are you usin one of those ramps that fold into three pieces? I think there are three sections that fold on top of each other to store or put in the back of the truck. When you unfold em they take up most of the width of the tailgate right? Where did you get yours and do you like it or would you get somethin else?

Thanks

Hi Pudding,

Get this. The guy advertised in cycle trader that the thing was in excellent condition and wanted 600 bucks for it. It was about 2 1/2hr away in Baltimore so I gave him a call and set up a time to see it. I asked all the questions, what condition, shape of the plastic, how does it run, bearings the hole nine yards. This was on Friday and I couldn't get there till Sunday. He said it needed a battery but he would get one and get the thing ready. I told him I would call one Sunday and make sure everything was in order and we were ready to go. I called and was told it had a flat and he couldn't break the bead so I might not be able to ride it. I told him if he fixed the flat I would be down but I wanted to ride it before I bought it. He said ok and would call back when it was ready. Well he called. Well I get the money, cash and hit the road. Got down there to find he didn't get a battery, the thing wouldn't run without full choke, the tire he fixed wasn't up to proper inflation, the seat had a rip in it and he didn't want me to ride it because of the neighbors (this was in a warehouse area). Well I offered him 400 bucks, he said he had a lot of people that were interested in it and wouldn't take it. I wished him well and left.

What a pain in the butt. I don't understand people sometimes. I wonder if he thought I was either blind or stupid. I do admitt though the bike was in decent shape other than the problems. If he would have put a battery in it, cleaned the carb (he didn't even put fresh gas in it) so it ran well I probably could have talked him into riddin it and would have given him his asking price. I don't get it. I would never have someone drive 5 to 6 hours to find what I saw. Tell ya what, I will never buy anything I don's see for sure.

I guess there will be others, but I just didn't trust him, what a shame.

yup its a shame all right.....sorry to here it

i drove 4 hours to look at a tecate3 (very rare here) to find it was to far gone for me to afford to do up, and what the guys was asking he was just too much if i wanted to spend money and get it going again, if i had a Paying job (being a student ain't the greatest money wise), i would have taken it

what you mentioned are minor problems which can be fixed........its just dissapointing that he says one thing and its actually another.....and ya have to drive all that way to find that out

and i would have thought he would have let ya ride it!
man......ya gotta know what ya getting ya self into!.......

hmmmm.......maybe there is a better bike around the corner?.......check this weekends paper!!!.....ya never know

laterz

Pudding,

Your right they are minor problems. He should have had them fixed when I got there. He told me he was goin to work on it on Saturday and have it ready. I don't think he even went there on Saturday to even see if it was there. After all that I just wondered what else he didn't tell me. I just didn't trust him. The kicker was when he tried to tell me it may be the gas that was makein it run funny. He said it had been in there a couple of years and he just added to it. Give me a break!!!!!!!!! Daaaaaaaaaaaaaa Yeah da that might be it!!!!!!! I asked him what oil it took in the crankcase and he didn't know. I have a bunch of vehichles and can tell ya off the top of my head what is in each when they need to be changed and almost anything else ya want to know. And if I were sellin one could write ya a book on em. But not to want ya to ride it because of the "neighbors"? I don't think so. Ya know the funny thing is someone will by that thing under the same conditions and he knows it.

Your right there will be another one. I'll just keep lookin. I just thought I would have it by now. Oh well.
