I know where there is an 85 250R for sale. It's 100% stock, unmodified. It's still on the original cylinder and on the original bore. Overall it's in excellent condition. Tires are good, chain and sprokets are good, and plastic is good..Has a new rear fender but the front fender is still original.

The guy told me to make him an offer... What's one of these worth?

Thanks.

Blue book trade-in value is listed as $565
Retail value is $960
If they guy is an idiot offer $650
If he's a little smarter and knows the demand for these things I wouldn't go higher than $1200. But you make the final decision on what you want to spend.

if it's in excelent condition, about $1500.

At least that's what they are around here.

I think he's leaning in the ballpark of $2000... This does seem a little high, but the bike doesn't look really abused.

The rear shock doesn't seem all that great though... Maybe needs another one or a rebuild.

Someone really screwed up the axle and locknuts. The locknuts have left-hand threads, I guess the person didn't know this and took two big pipe wrenches and made a mess. The scratches on the axle are about an 1/8" deep. He must have used one big snipe on the pipe wrenches.

Anyway, too high then?

Yep, too high. Those #'s I gave you are kelley blue book value if the vehicle is in good condition. They are accurate because I looked them up when I was typing my first reply. If that much is really screwed up then it deffinatly isn't worth $2k.

That would be top dollar for an '85 that would have to be MINT w/ all original parts. $1200-1500 is more like it. Personally I'd say around $1200.
