250r or 350x

It all depends on what type of riding you do. If you are a slow trailrider then get the 350x. The atc 250r's don't like to go slow and you have to keep the revs up to climb hills or go through any mud. If you like speed and all out performance go with the atc 250r. I own 3 atc 250r's. They are very reliable bikes even when modded. They are good in the trails but i constantly work the clutch. Also there are many more mods available for the atc 250r's. Either one is a fine choice.

I had a friend that had a 350X, and I would have to disagree with it being slow, It moved along rather well. One thing that I do remember about the 350x is that is was hell to start when it was cold and that can be factor up here in MN. That 350x kick start would try to break your leg if you were on the compression stroke when you gave it a kick. I don't know if all the 350Xs were like this, but his was. Other than that it was a really good machine.

As an owner of a 350x, I can tell you it isn't any more difficult to start when it is cold. Unfortunately it is pretty tough to start when it is warm. The tough part is kicking it. It starts relatively well if you can get the kickstarter down. Mine has always started with just a few kicks, but they have to be good solid kicks. I don't know how it compares speed-wise to a 250R, but it has always been plenty fast for me, stone stock. Go ride them and see what's right for you.

I own a 350x as well, and mine is not hard to start. It will always start on the first or second kick. As far as speed goes they are fast. With a 250r, you will have to be "on the pipe", or you will not have any power, typical 2 stroke, but with a 350x, you have power all the time. They have awesome torque! So if you only ride sand dunes and such, then get a 250r. Anything that you have read about the "power characteristics" of a Banshee will apply. But if you don't want to be limited as to the type of riding that you can do, then get a 350x, you won't be sorry. They are very fast if they are in good shape, or better yet, modified with a "Big Bore" kit They have a 6 speed transmission, and they are very reliable, you won’t always have to be doing top end rebuilds like a 2 stroke. You can lug a 350x around as much as you like for casual trail riding, or you can go insanely fast, it's all up to you The 350x has power from idle all the way to red line, you don't have to worry about what gear your in, and slipping the clutch like a 2 stroke, just give it the gas and it will go, that is if you can keep the front wheel down We wont even talk about how awesome it is to wheelie

I've had them all - 200X, 250R, 350X - and the one I still have is the 350X. They are all great bikes but I stuck with the 350X because of the type of riding I do.
They are only hard to kick if the decompression cable is out of adjustment.
They are not hard to start in cold weather if they're tuned properly - idle mixture screw, pilot jet, main jet, needle clip position, etc.
They run cooler than TRX250X or TRX300EX because it has an oil cooler and they don't, not to mention it doesn't have to work as hard.
I run synthetic oil too, and I change it every 20 hours because I ride hard and fast, and in spite of the oil cooler she gets hot, but no more than should be expected. Cool part is that it only takes two quarts. On the other hand, if had an external dry sump reservoir like the 400EX that held much more, it would last longer and stay even cooler...
