Definitely the Big Red! Both my brother and I have 86's and we find them absolutely bulletproof. Two years ago I carried out a moose on mine. I put two quarters on the back rack (my brother had to sit on the front rack so I could steer...ocassionally) I am so impressed with the reliability that I am now in the process of buying a 2003 Foreman 450s. Not sure what deer weigh, but each of my moose quarters weighed about 120 lbs. You can't ask for a better water machine either; this trike actually floats! The only thing to watch while riding on hills is tipping. If you happen to put your foot to the ground to catch yourself while the trike is moving, there's a good chance the rear tire will snag your leg and pull you off the trike. Not a pleasant experience. As for power, this trike will pull anything. I also hook a snowplow up to it each winter and with ice chains and weight on the rear rack, it does a fairly good job...not as good as a 4X4 but pretty good nonetheless. Anyway, hope this helps.

You cant beat a Big Red. I have used my 83 200E for hunting and it is great. The only thing that sucks is no reverse. But they are cheap. The 84 had reverse. Of course the 85-86's are even better yet, but you pay a little more for them.

I have an 84 200M ( I believe that's the same as a 200S but with electric start ) - I'm not sure when
Honda started using the Big Red model name, but they seem to cost more on Ebay if it says
Big Red. I know later Big Reds had a rear suspension - not sure if the earlier ones did. My 200m
does not. I think, for hunting and fishing, that this would be more of a luxury than a necessity -
the rigid models do just fine in rough terrain and no trail conditions, at modest speeds. I think
the rear suspension's main advantage is better control and ride comfort at higher speeds - I don't
think it actually goes any better through tough stuff - just easier to go a little quicker.

So, while no doubt the Big Red is the king of utilities, if you want a simple reliable and tough machine
that is also very affordable to buy, the 200S and M would probably do you just fine - the last Big
Reds had some nice features, like a beefier electric system, removeable headlight/worklight, and
a 12v accessory plug . . . but again, they hold their value pretty well - you're probably looking at
$1000 - $1500 for average one, more for a perfect example. M's and S's go cheaper - maybe
$700-$900 for a decent one ( these are estimates - may vary by location ). Plenty of power,
same bullet-proof engine, tough centrifugal clutch, and better mud and snow performance than
any performance trike, or any 2 whl drive quad.

Also, smashed or cracked fenders will knock a hundred or two off the price, and if you are just bashing
around the woods, you can fix broken fenders by riveting some sheet metal from underneath, and cover
with paint ( or go fast and cheap like me, and use red duct tape ), and it will be strong and functional
and look only a little cheesy. So, there's an oportunity to save a couple more bucks. . .

Bang for the buck,
