ITP QUADCROSS JUNE 15 - who's in???
#1
Just wondering who is going to make it to Glen Helen for the race on the 15th? I am going to go for the first time - I've been racing MX in AZ for a year and a half, and have always wanted to check out GH!!! Any tips from anyone who has been there already this year? How many laps are the motos? Do a lot of people camp? Do they have practice on Saturday? Any info would be MUCH appreciated!

I'm in!!! Are you gonna race or just check out the action?? Glen Helen would be a great track if they just took care of it. So many ruts and holes, its more like a "Survivor" episode than a race!!Its still fun. There are 2 motos, 5 laps each. There is camping, but many racers i've noticed show up race morning with the quads in back of the trucks. Hope to see you there, and hope you have fun if you do race!! Good Luck!!!

Hey Rob!
I'm a racer, not a watcher so I'll be runnin' with all the guys!! I was hoping with just quads racing that the track wouldn't get so chewed up, but it sounds like that's not the case! We will probably be heading over to Cali Friday after work if we are allowed to practice on Saturday...........I think there should be quite a few AZ racers - some fast pro's in the bunch, too. Should be fun......I'll have to remember your number and be sure to say HI! What class do you run? I'm a Novice racer.......
And hey! I just noticed you race a Raptor! My boyfriend races a Raptor too! He'll like having some Yamaha company on the track!

Hey back, Corry!!!
The problem is, GH holds REM races on Saturdays on the same track the Quadcross is on. So by the time the 2 wheelers spend all day tearing up the track, there's no time to work it over for the Sunday Quadcross races. So there is no practice on the track, except for Thursdays. If there isn't a race on the National Track on Saturday, then you can practice there. But that track is already tore up from motorcycles and is MUCH more demanding. Some guys ride it, but I'm a desert racer and prefer the more natural terrain track. I race the 30+ begginer class..but like I said..I'm a desert racer broadening my experience. Have fun and I'll see you there!!!

I don't know what these guys are talking about but after practice, the track becomes smooth. All race tracks get tore up. To me this track is pretty smooth. It's more of a open track, not too technical. Small tables, maybe one or two step ups. It's a fun track. What class are you running (SandHopper)?
Matt, I'm just got a KFX400. I like it better than my honda but I rather race my honda because my honda is fully built. The honda is still not done, it's been two months. I think I need to perform a terrorist act on trinity racing if they don't get my parts back to me soon. I can't afford to race my KFX400 because Cory is just pulling away in points. Matt, are you going to make it?

How often do they run quads at GH? Is this a one time event or do they run weekly. I want to plan a trip to Glamis or Pismo sometime this summer, but I would love to race at Glen Hellen too.

Cool - this is all good info! I have 20" tires up front......and they love to find the holes/ruts.....no dampner on my +3 front end, unfortunately! I'll practice the roughest track I can find this weekend! I will probably sign up for the 30+ class, if there are enough women, then the women's class, too. Or maybe the 400cc beginner's class? I hear you CA racers are fast, so maybe I'll run beginner the first time!

I can't wait till next month. I get to run in the 40+ class. Finaly a chance to win. I will be there riding or not.
Smooth Track where you running around in the PITS? GH is known for their ruts, stutters and no maintance track. Even when they do work on it my the Second MOTO it is trashed. I must remember this race to hold tighter on the bars so they don't leave my hands.
