Racing tips to provide more consistant lap times.
Well, I wanted to start this thread because I feel like I need some help. I am 30 and race MX. When I first got back into racing I was recovering from an injury. So it was almost like starting over. I had to regain confidence, which I still feel like is not where it should be but is a lot better.
Now, I am jumping and turning almost as good as I was before the injury, but after two laps I have to drop back and go slow for a while then I can hit the gas again but not for long before I have to rest again.
Here is a catch, I don't have time to work out. I barely have time to race. Although I try to practice once a week and I ride a bicycle whenever I can.
So, what I am trying to do is maximize the amount of energy that I have. I do think that one of my problems is my breathing. I don't really think about how I breath when I am riding hard.
Does anyone have any tips on this,

Try singing a song out loud...you don't have to belt it out for an audience...just sing a song you know...for instance "I'm a little tea-pot, short, and stout, here's my handle....gasp....heres my spout..."
It helped me breath naturally...I used to hold my breath without realizing it, but know when I run out of air the lovely sound of my voice falters and I suck more in....
Goood Luck
"Mary had a little lamb her father shot it dead...and now it goes to school with her between two hunks of bread!!

when I first started boxing I use to hold my breath every time I throw a combo and I could last 5 all out rounds, after I learned to breath properly it gave me another 3 rounds.
also try to calm your nerves that helps!
one more thing I do is run my pratice lap at half pace just enought to warm up but not be sore or winded!
