What are some good tracks to go to for beginners in az? I'm pretty good on a quad but have never raced before.
Thanks

I live around 51 ave & northern. Do you have to have the amx competition license to just go out and practice? Also I was wondering if they will let you practice if you do not have any nerfs? Maybe we can meet up sometime ride.
Thanks!

You do not need a license to practice anywhere.....just to race. And if you just want to race and not pay your yearly license fee, you can pay $10 for a day license on the day of the race! And no...you don't NEED nerfs to practice...but that is something I'd highly recommend as soon as you can get them! Take it from me, running over your own foot is VERY painful, and can mean broken bones if you don't have good racing boots on!!!

SW is a great beginner and adv track for quads - it's national track is very wide and full of long table and some step-ups that are a lot of fun! You need to get on www.gomxracing.com and look up Speedworld in the track profiles section....you will see time/dates for practice as well as pics of the track and a number to call Dan Matthews (the track owner) if you have any specific questions!!! SW was the first track I ever raced on, and it's still my favorite!

Typically we can practice there Thurs - Sunday....summer hours are still in effect, so on the weekends, I believe it's open from 6am to 11:30 am.....not sure about weekdays. Usually quads are not allowed onto the main track until 9am during summer hours....then it's all ours (as long as you don't mind playing with the bikes! Just hold your line and the bikes won't mind you at all)! Before 9am we can ride the Vintage track as well as the Grand Prix track....(the GP track is getting a makeover very soon, so it might be a little choppy right now).

If you ask at the gate where you sign your life away and pay the practice fee ($20 all day), they will show you which tracks you can ride on and where the entrances are to them.

SW is a great track....good people...Dan has done a lot for quads in the past couple of years!!

One word of advice....don't go out right after the water truck!!! Give it a few minutes, or you will have a lot of washing to do!!!

Winter hours are coming soon, so keep checking SW's website or gomxracing for updates on their new winter hours.....they are usually like 9am to 3 or something like that!

AZ has some other cool tracks, too.......SW is up on the far northwest side....Motogrande is a killer track (very technical but very well groomed - lots of fun!) down near Casa Grande....Ocotillo (Eloy) is another track down south, near Casa Grande....it's a pretty fun track, too......usually lots of quads on Thursday nights now......ET is a newer track in the East Valley (Ironwood and I60)....Verde Valley is a cool track up north near Cottonwood.....and COP is a track up near Lake Pleasant.....all the tracks have their own "personalities" so to speak...so you just have to check them all out and see which ones you like the best!

Good luck - have fun! I was right where you were two years ago, and I got hooked into racing and loved it!!! SW is a great start!

Corry
