Where do I start???
#1
I have been riding quads for many years. I currently have a worrior which I ride on the trails. I plan on getting a new quad in order to race. I have never raced before but I am fast as hell on trails. My question is where should I start in the racing scene. I would prefer to stay on trails, or cross country. What kinda quad should I start off on. What types of racing is out there? Thanks in advance.

If you've ridden wooden trails all your life, then most likely you are most skilled at woods and I would recommend cross country, either GNCC or Hare Scrambles (they're basically identical). As far as a quad, bring what you have and enter the begginer class. Buy some roll-off goggles and a water pack and just have fun for the first race. The first race will tell you so much it's like reading a book. That one race will tell you everything you need to know about machine set-up, if you think you want to trade. Introduce yourself to new people and ask lots of questions. Very few people are shy about what's under the plastic unless they are in teh pro class and don't want to realease info. to the competition. Just introduce yourself and many will be more than happy to give you advice. But just remember to have fun the first race and take it easy. In the new situation of everyone fighting for a spot, and if you are trying to win the first race, you will very easily get to excited and smoke a tree or wreck, take it easy, you get faster by starting slow!!

Yeah, what all of them said. If you want tips on making the warrior faster or handle better, let me know. I had a warrior that I raced mx with and it was pretty fast and handled well. The suspension setup will be a little different for hare scrambles, but you can get the general idea.
