I have seen lt250r's in just about every racing situation. If I were you though I would hold out for the honda 250r if you can. There is so much more you can get and do with a trx. As far as the difference between the races, It is getting kind of hard to tell, If you ask some guys who raced cross-country and harescrambles a while back they will tell you why, too many mx tracks popping up in the xc harescramble series. As for suspension, you can still run alot of sag in the rear of the quad, that is what a lot of guys are doing, like the Axis or tcs, even though I see more Axis than anything. Whatever quad you pick, have fun... that is the purpose people get into racing in the first place, right, to have fun.

The LT is a good bike. I had a 88 lt built for woods and it was great it had a low center of gravity and the power valve makes great smooth bottom end yet still lets it rev out. the pual turner pipe is the best one for the bike.I used works steelers and they work good but if you can afford more go with axis they are the best(thier tech help and support is by far the best i have ever seen. they helped me sort out my shocks a the fla gncc and i didn't even have axis shocks) I miss my lt but I love my 4 stroke power.
