A great idea to use when u get ready to get your 300ex modifeid is the 350X top end which u can put on your 300ex I am looking for a Sleave,head,and Cylender, I am going to have it bored and stroked, ppl i know that have done this have uped there cc to 396cc and went from from 18 hp to 35hp this is one of the best hp for the buck mods, with the 350X top end with no boreing or strokeing it would easily compare with the 400ex

 

This idea certainly does sound "trick". What is the 350X though? The name doesn't sound familiar.

Hey this sounds like a good mod. Have you tried www.ATVSALVAGE.com? They have all kinds of new and used parts for ATV's. If you dont see it l;isted phone them or E-mail them! They said they dont list all parts online since there is a huge inventory! GOOD LUCK !!

 

Honda got the engine used on the '85-'86 ATC350X's from the XR350 which was only produced for one or two years. The 350X was a very good engine, the power was much different than that of the 400EX. More extreme bottom end, very good mid, the 400EX has more upper mid and top. The 350X had a wider powerband and a stronger feel, although I think the 400EX is really faster. People who think the 400EX is a wheelie king should ride a 350X, mine would raise the front wheel in any of the first 5 gears with just a wick of the throttle.

I wasn't aware that a 300EX could be modded with the old 350X parts, I think this would be a cheap way to make a serious pwr increase to the 300EX's mild engine.
