Hello Everyone!
We have been up at Waukon the last two weekends at the track. It looks like it should be 10-12 miles long. There will be rocky terrain, very tight woods, places to open it up, hills, ponds (do not enter - ha!), logging trails, fence crossings, barns, cattle shutes, a little bit of motorcross - a little bit of everything.
There is a campground in Waukon that has an aquatic pool - no sure of the name of it or if it is full. There will be primitive camping at the track.
Take 76 through Waukon & out of town for approx 8 miles north - turn right at Grandview this will be gravel about 3 or 4 miles then turn left at Cedar Tree (I think) watch for orange arrows.
It is also Allamakee County Fair this weekend in Waukon. There will be motorcross races Friday night.
Anyone that comes, make a point to thank all the Colsch Cycle guys & gals and Byrnes' (land owner) for making this happen. They have done a lot of work and enjoy the sport as much as the rest of us.
Thanks to our sponsors...VanWall, Great American Outdoors Motorsports, Advantage Cycle, Titan Tire, Moose Racing, IMDA, C&C Cycle, Cycle Country, Scott, Ancra, Pivotworks, Hot Cams, Douglas Wheel, EBC Brakes, NGK Spark Plugs, Polaris Racing, Uni Air Filters, Victory Motorcycle, ATVA, Champion Motors, Mototees, Lightning Motorsports, Kelly Cortum, Inc, American Adventure, Corner Car Wash/Spray Zone, North River Ridge Runners ATV Club And for all of our Hole Shot awards for every class at every race....CERTIFIED RACING!!

This is going to be my first one, I'm going to give it a shot in C class in the morning to see if I like it or not, if I do I'll be starting the search for a new quad this winter. I live down by Dubuque right on Hwy 20. I'm looking forward to it, even though I'm already getting nervous

Few questions? How is the start handled. Do they stagger the start by a few minutes? I've got a cobra exhaust on the bike, do I need a USFS approved spark arrestor in place?, if so that means back to the stock exhaust and changing jetting around ugh. The forecast is calling for mid 80's last I heard, looks like I better buy myself a camelback. The iowaohv forums were down this morning, thats why I brought these questions back here..

It was Green Leaf not Cedar Tree. Sorry!

96, yup the hydration pack is a very good idea. Not sure if they're doing sound testing. I can find out for you.
Don't be nervous, just ride to have fun.

Quad is fine just the way it is. Yes, stagger start. For example, all C riders start at 10:00 a.m., then about 1 min later the Utility go, and so on. C, utility, women & Junior race from approx 10-12 then A, B, +30 race from approx 12:30-2:30. Yep, I'd get a camelpak.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll be the first one in line at 7:30 sunday morning to get my ama card and registration sorted out. One more dumb question, I've got my quad tagged with #79, should I bring some extra numbers along in case someone already is using that. Woohoo, I'm getting even more pumped!

hey guys..this'll be my third race in the series and ive had nothing but problems w/ them...andy doesnt quite have his ideas put together yet...his intentions are good, but his procedures arent kosher..every race is different as to how its run...its too bad that he doesnt have his crap together yet, but im gonna give him the rest of the year to make it up to me..cuz he screwed me out of a 6th place finish in bussey cuz he cant mark the track effieciently..and all of the problems spur out of the c class..but yeah, i just hope things arent this bad the rest of the year..if u guys have any questions or just wanna talk to me, my name is tyler pritchard and i ride an 03 kawasaki kfx400 #08..ill be wearin' my honda/fox racing gear (cuz i just got the kfx and havent had the money to get a new jersey to match the quad )..but anyways, if u just wanna shoot the breeze, i'd be more than happy to chat..

Well I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion. Maybe Tyler could go help one race and find out in person how difficult just one of these events is to put on.....LET ALONE AN ENTIRE SERIES! Andy and crew have busted their butts to give you something (an incredible series) where you used to have nothing. Nice way to pay him back pal.

Julius,
Bluff wasn't marked that poorly, it could've used some more work, but if you would just lift your head and follow the arrows, and not the guy ahead of you, it wouldn't have been a problem. Andy has done more for this series and the riders than even the GNCC will do for their amateur riders! You can take your stabs at it, but you should volunteer your time to gain a perspective of what it takes to get one of these tracks ready. There is way more behind the scenes than just the 2 hours that you run around the track!!
BTW, Wolveeeeeeeeee....Waukon was a wicked track. I can't move my hand with the blisters cause it's frozen in the handgrip position, but the plus side of it is that it's the perfect shape for a beer bottle....mmmm!
