i was wondering if anyone that has had a polaris predator..especially the 03 model...if they have had problems with grinding gears and shifting into neutral between gears. i was looking at one of these to race but if they miss gears..a lot of ground could be lost in a tight race.

 

There was a lot of complaints of 3rd gear dropping out on them along with other issues. Search in the polaris forum and you'll find a lot of topics from a couple years ago when they were new.

 

I have over 5000 miles on my 03 Pred. The only time I had trouble shifting, is when I didn't use the PS-4 oil for it.....I love mine...

 

hey predator03, do u like your sons z400 better than your predator, as far as if you were racing motocross with it, y or y not?

 

it's mainly 4th gear people are losing

I don't anything about racing motocross with it, it's recreational for me. But there isn't anything on my son's machine that compares to mine. The power, the suspension and handling...are much better on my predator. His machine is a nice one, don't get me wrong.....and it has reverse, which I wished I had....but overall, mine is just a way better machine..

 

I agree.....if you use PS-4 you will not have trouble shifting.
