Default Raptor 660 vs KFX400

I've had front and rear spacers on my Raptor for over 3 years now, and have had no bending or breaking of my rear axle or front spindles.

What's really amazing is that I can clear a 75 ft. table top with little problem...weighing a couple of biscuits over 330 lbs. Being 6'5" tall I use a lot of my leg strength when I land to cushion the weight transfered from my body to the quad.

Remember, it's not the arrow, it's the Indian.

Good Luck!!!

Well I don't know if I was racing and inexperianced rider or what, but my KFX beat a GTY-R piped Raptor... maybe lack of experiance but I didn't really think my stock KFX would beat it.

Got news for you Raptor guys,

The 2005 KFX/Z400 will give you more than a run for your money. They are a good bit quicker than the 04s. My neighbor has an 03 Raptor and although I have not raced him yet, he told me his cousin beat him already on his 05 Z400.

I ran into a guy with a 2001 660 with several mods and he beat me, but not by much. In the corners I was coming out harder and was running right up on his rear end, almost to the point where I had to either let off or look to pass. But just as I got close the gap evened out and he would pull away on the long straights. I also didn't know the trails well and he did, I could see I could carry a lot more speed into the corners, if I knew them well enough to rail into them I could have passed him coming out of the turns.

When we were side-by-side it was real close until about 4th gear when he would start to inch away, but he by no means was blowing by me. I also probably am about 50lbs heavier than he is so that could factor in.

Either way the Raptor might be a little faster, but not enough to make up for it's average handling.

Sorry ss, but the rap is still convincingly the quicker and faster machine. The clones handle better, but these are two different types of bikes.

I somewhat agree with you SS, but a stock Raptor really isn't that impressive anyway (well, mine wasn't atleast). I think that Yamaha purposely chokes them up really bad from the factory so joe blow newby don't get one and kill himself. It gives them time to get use to the power before adding mods. Mine had the worst sounding stock exhaust I've ever heard.
Now I got news for you, SS........You can put on a good pipe, open air box, and properly jet both machines and your 05 Z won't stand a chance...............

Ozark,I agree with some of what you said. With riders with the same skills,a piped raptor should have no problem with a piped 400.Just my opinion. Not that the 400 is a bad quad.I rode a friend of mine's 400 that was stock.I really liked it.It was faster than I thought it would be.
Now what I don't agree with, the stock raptor sounds bad? It's so quiet I couldn't even hear it when I raced piped banshees.LOL!Seriously,I agree it isn't the best sounding bike.I later added a pipe.Much better.

Yeah, mine was quiet too. What I should have said is its the most restictive sounding exhaust I've ever heard on a quad.

Yeah,It's like yamaha was trying to choke the life out of it.A pipe sure helps them. They done the same with the banshee. After hearing so many piped banshees,a stock banshee sounds a little funny to me.
