I'm thinking of buying a new ATV(maybe to race with).I kind of want a Honda or Yamaha.I'm only 14 , 5"10 and 145 lbs. but I know how to ride quads good. I like the 450R and the YFZ 450 but I think its maybe to big for me so I think a 400EXor a 300EX would be good maybe? What kind of ATV do think would be the best for me?450R?400EX?300EX?250EX?

 

obviosly the 450r kuz its the fastest, lol. but i like both the 450 and the 400. they are both good quads.

 

If your hell bent 0n a honda the 450r would be the best choice for racing!! and trail riding! the 400ex is a great trail bike and a wheele king!!! but racing and going fast and jumping stuff go with the 450r!! I might warn you the guys racing the 450 class are pretty good you got to have alot of skill to handle those bikes well!!


i would rather go with the yfz 450 before the honda it iz faster and handles better!! and its more for MX racing i just like the yamaha better over all than the honda

 

Ya I think the YFZ is better too.But I talked to one of the mechanics at a Yamaha Store and he said they are high maintenance.Does that mean fixing the engine all the time?Or does it mean changing tires a lot and changing the oil often?

 

i like the yfz more but they are not faster than a 450r, no matter wat. it u race a stock yfz and a stock 450r the 450r will win by a lil bit. but then again it also depends on the rider. i would go for the yfz just kuz i think it looks cooler and rides a bit better, but either way u'll be happy with whichever one u choose. by the way warrior13, its not really that high maintenence..... u just have to take care of it just like any other quad. it could still take a good beating.

 

He's full of crap! The only maintainace I do is change the oil/oil filte, give the air filter a good clean, and your good to go! If you don't want to be eating dirt, I suggest you go with either with the 450R of the YFZ. From there, it's personal preference. We could argue all day about which one is better but no right answer will come out. So it's all up to YOU whether you like red or blue.

Really!!! How do you know?? I'm guessing you're reading all that BS from the magazines aren't you? Get into the real world, they both have about the same speed. But who cares, he wants to race MX, you will NEVER reach your top speed on a track!

 

Take a look at the 250R's. Those are good race quads.

 

haha, yea, actually i did get that from articles and every1 else that i talked to about it said that the honda would win. i still think that the honda would lead by a bit, even though i like the yfz..... but its all about the rider.

 

I don't think they sell a 250R in Canada.The Honda dealer only sells the 250ex. Maybe if a buy it used from someone but....I kind of want to buy a new one.
