When you are racing and are coming up to a corner do you goe as fast as you can uptill you get to the corner and then use brakes?Or do you gradually shift down to slow you down?

Well, I'm no racer but you definetely don't gradually slow down. When I'm just racin around with buds if it's a tight corner, we'll go as fast as we can jam the brakes to whip the rear end around and jump right on the gas to finish out the corner with a powerslide. If it's not so tight we'll go as fast as possible until right before corner click down one gear, powerslide through corner and click back up as exiting. And just a corner, we'll powerslide.

When you go into a corner, slide your backend around until you reach the apex of the turn, then gas it.

You want to get all your braking done before you start to corner, and then use throttle control to get you thru the rest of it. DO NOT go into a corner side ways.
