I am looking into racing desert in Souther California with AMA District 37. The races are usually 40 miles. I have 04 yfz450 with the standard power mods (intake, pipe and jetting). I believe I have the stuff to make it legal but I have a few questions?

Can I make it 40 miles with a stock gas tank?

How strict are they with regard to sound? I know my quad is too loud and just need to know if I need to go through all the hassle of getting under 96 db's. The last thing I want to do is put the stock exhaust back on. I currently have a FMF Factory 4.

I am 39 and not looking to win, but I just want to have fun with some races and be able to finish

Is the district 37 membership for one year or from Jan to Jan. In other words should I wait to start in Jan? Please say no ...lol

but yes you can do 40 on a stock tank easy, and AMA membership is $39.00 for 12 months from when you get it, and you will need to upgrade your suspension!!!

 

Thanks! ... saved me a couple hundred bucks on a oversized tank. Now I can put that money towards some wider arms and axle.
