MX tracks in North Carolina
#1
I might be moving to the Raleigh, Durham area of North Carolina around June of 2001 because of my job moving. I would really appreciate some information on good motocross tracks around that area if there is any. I would also like to know if there is any beach/dune riding areas in the state. This info would be greatly appreciated.

mx250r,
There are several mx tracks in NC and a good quad only series the Mid-Atlantic ATV Assc. Go to motocrossactionmag.com and go to their track guide. It will list many of the tracks here. Also, you can check out easterncarolinamx.com for a track in Kenly, NC and ecmx.com for another one. Also, there is some good beach riding near Southport, NC. Me and my friends race or practice almost every weekend so if you have any more questions just ask.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate the information. Do you know of any sites that explain the rules and location of the beach area?
Also, I ride a 1986 250r, do you know of any good two stroke mechanics around the area? Thanks alot for replying, maybe we could hook up and go riding some time this summer. I don't know anybody down there. I met Brian Mckinney briefly at Muddy creek in TN, but I won't have anyone to ride with. Thanks again.

mx250r,
Yeah, whenever you move down here email me and we can get together and ride. I used to have an '89 250r and now I have a '00 400ex set up for mx. I live a little over an hour away from Raleigh so distance isn't a problem. There are several good cycle shops around and Legacy Atv is close by in High Point. They sell pretty much everything. Also, the sand dune place is open to everybody. It's private land but they allow you to ride. There are many miles of sand trails and dunes near the beach. Whenever you get settled we'll go ride.

From Raleigh to Virginia is not far, and Virginia has some good MX tracks. Birch Creek in Danville, Va, run motocross and TT with Mid-Alantic and Southern ATV. Birch Creek also hosts the TT Nationals in April.
You are moving into an area that is seeing tremendous growth in racing. Virginia International Raceway will be hosting numerous motorcycle races in 2001, including an AMA Superbike race in September. I expect VIR to build a motorcross track and get some AMA National races.
Good Luck,
Darrin Talbott

Thanks again for the info guys. I thought that Danville was close. I would like to hook up and go riding callen74. Thanks for the invitation. At first, I was disappointed because I live only 20 miles from High point in PA. It is also about only 4 or 5 hours to the TT's in Ohio. But now I see that there is a lot of racing going on down there too. You guys ever race the nationals? I raced high point last year but didn't do very well. I went to Muddy Creek during the October top gun showdown and I got sixth down there. Another thing that hurts us in West Virginia is the bad weather. My quad is half tore apart in my building but it has been so cold that I haven't been able to get much done. I am very glad to hear that Legacy is so close. I consider the big three as NAC's, Legacy, and K & K. Do you guys even get to ride in the winter time? That would be great because I gain weight because I can't ride past October. Well I will stop talking so much. Thanks again.
