"The mental side of jumps"

I love big Doubles and triples. It is all in your head. If you think you can you will. The biggest triple i have hit has been around 75ft. The biggest double around 50ft. The double was the scary one. My friend descide to make a huge double. The take off ramp is about 7ft tall and around a 50 or so degrees. I was about 15ft in the air at tire level. It was insane, no that I look back on that it was dumb. But I still hit it. So jumping is all in your head, the quad will make it.

Not always, I have been on many doubles and triples that the quad simply didn't have enough traction/HP to clear, most of the time, these are right out of turns. Many tracks are setup for MX bikes who generally weigh less, have much better acceleration and suspension than quads.
Just be careful out there, know your limits, start small and work your way up, and don't do anything stupid.
Tabletops are great practice for judging jumps and landings.

wanna know what i think?? heres what goes through my mind! first as i look at it i think im not gonna make it, then i say to myself "dont be a wuss!" "***** to the wall!" "go hard or go home!" then lastly "nut up or shut up!" then i powershift to generally 3rd or 4th gear an slip the clutch to keep the revs up and just hammer the jump! sometimes it hurts when i land but im still young and pain is only temporary trophies last forever! an yes i know i need to seek help but im gonna have fun while my body can still take it!

I am anxious for the season to start again. I am gonna go out there and actually have some ***** and try some bigger jumps. there are four jumps at our local MX track i am gonna try. There is a triple i already double, i am gona triple it. Two triples that i want to double, and a set of two short doubles i am gonna try. I am so anxious.

MX265X sounds like a t-shirt. But seriously, i agree with him to an extent. I always walk jumps first though, and hit them slowly just to see how they launch you. But after doing that 2-3 times and guestimating what gear to be in, i usually give just a little bit more throttle than i think i will need. In my experience i've been less likely to get hurt overjumping then casing a jump. After the first time i clear it, i know from then on exactly what speed is needed and what gear to run in. But never hit a jump all out the first time if you've never even looked at it or seen the landing. Go big but be safe about it.

you must think I'm crazy but I jump with my yamaha breeze. I bottum out all the time and have harsh landings. But I'm 10 and I can take it. I'm getting a 250EX for my 11th birthdayon March 12. My friend has a KX60 dirtbike and he tried a double that was to long for him. He hit the top of the second jump and crashed. He cracked his ribcage but he he is fine and same with his bike. He is going to get a Yamaha blaster this summer. He is also 10.

Ive been only riding for about a year now and am 21 years of age. Ive been on the banshee for about 3 months now and have just started to jump decent.
Last Sunday we were at a new riding spot for me and a couple other guys out there made a jump. It was about 6 feet tall and about at a 70 or higher degree of an angle. I really havent had much jumping experience but I watched the guy that made it jump on his shee and my riding friend jump it as well. He told me to just hit in mid 3rd and dont burp it, I did and wow, what a rush for me.
Its a learning step that im finally taking.

First and foremost know your limitations and your machines limitations.Just because you think a can do a 50 ft jump and your atv is capable does not mean it will work.Secondly practice on a wide range of smaller jumps using speed and body language(different gears vs lifting as you aproach and go over).Pure speed is not needed in most jump situations but good suspension always helps.Once I think I have a particular jump mastered I then approach as what will I do if something goes wrong.Know how to land with frt or back wheels and also right or left landings-it really hurts to get slapped off the side on a big speed jump!Last-I know this is a jumping topic but you don't have to do all the jumps in a race to win although it does help.(I have lost races because I feel the need to clear every jump the have been slapped off my 400ex for showing off)!!
