I understand that the 250r has excellent handling abilities, but isnt a 250 slightly underpowered? Wouldnt it be wiser (if budget allowed) to go with the Banshee (LSR Outlaw) and choice of motor (370 longrod)?

Im speaking for myself here, but heck no my 250 aint underpowered. It will throw the front end up in fourth gear w/ no effort. It has more power than any quad ive ever ridden. (ive ridden a 440EX)

Trx300exr, what is the approximate top speed of your bike? How much HP\torque does it have? Just because you can wheelie in 4th with little to no effort does not mean that the bike is powerful (not to say that it isnt, Im just stating that that is a bad example of how much it does have) I have yet to ride with a 250r to know how much power they have, Can anyone relate it a banshee (or another yamaha quad, as they are the dominate breed in my area )?

Well, the best way i can describe it is torquey. It has more low end than a banshee. Mine is geared 13 36, so its geared pretty high. It has been clocked at 85 at sixth gear 3/4 throttle. I love it, and would rather have it than a banshee anyday. HP readings i would say are in the 45 HP range, im not sure.

I admit, it wasn't the most accurate clocking. My buddy was beside me in his truck and his speedo said 85.

What kinda mods do you have on the motor? You are talking 85 Miles per hour, not kilometers right (im from canada )? How do you like the propeg nerfs? Does it change the position of the footpeg? Are they as strong (or stronger) than normal pegs? I am seriously looking into a set, but I like to jump lots and am worried about the impact to them.

One time my bro-in-laws' friends' neighbors' cousins' buddy came over with a radar gun and clocked me at 79mph on my Honda 200X. But then again that was downhill in the back of my pick-up. Hehe, sorry had to say it. :P

Look at my signature. I also have Duncan MX Porting and Polish. I went riding today and my motor ran great. (except for some needle probs, but nothing unfixable.)
