I agree with you all the way.
One questoin though. When you have your engine bored out (like the 240 Blaster)...how do people know it's a 240cc? Do the engine builders "delete" the original 200cc and type back 240cc or?

No, that's why tear downs are required. The top end is pulled off the engine and the cylinder is measured.

If you think are know that a person has the wrong size engine for the class that they are running in, you can do 2 things. Tell the ref and maybe he will do some looking or do a protest in writing($25 for the protest and $50 for being air-cooled). If the person is checked and found to be ilegal you will get all of your money back and help the sport.
Also, you can not use the same engine in the 250 and open class at any AMA races. Some places do, but it is not legal.

Took the overall.... It was a fun race. One bad thing though was that on the last lap I was looking at my watch and clipped a tree and got pitched... Bent my bars and stem, finished out the race with a good lead though. All in all had a really good time.

Thayer was a bad race for me... The course was a bit rough for the way my suspension is valved and it beat the crap out of me, I also wasn't geared correctly & have since fixed that. Then on the 2nd lap of the 2nd moto I got some crap tangled up in my rear brake lever and lost about a minute or more getting it freed up. Didn't have enough time to chase down the guy that passed me. I wish they would have run us a true 45 minutes per moto, becuase he was fading & I was making some time up fast.

Live and learn, I've currently got my shocks torn down and am revalving them for XC.

Did you end up racing that day? What were you riding?

I wish I could have gotten some practice time on the MX section, that was a killer rhythm section that I would have liked to hit given some practice.

Next race is in Russellville in May. I may hit the National in Kahoka, MO in April also.

Not sure if I am going to race or work Russellville. Should be fun either way.

Do you plan on hitting any of the Arkansas Harescrambles? We need to get as many ATV's showing up as possible - they're great events...

The reason that there are no x's, /'s, or * on the number plates this year is that there has been some scoring problems the past few years. You would have in the same heat a 18 and a 18/. When a rider comes across the finish line this causes a problem for the scoring people, they have wrote down the wrong one. Do you see at any bike races riders using anything but numbers. Maybe at some small local races they might let a rideruse it. We are at a national race so let's make it look like a national. The past few years each promoter have there own ref and the rule and what was done at each race was not the same. This year there is a new person that will be at each race trying to make them run the same. The top 10 or 20 numbewrs in each class this year can only be used by a ride that earned that number in that class last year. Also, we are trying to come up with a system to let a ride keep the same number for the year. This is something new and needed so hopefully it will work.
The ATV GNC is anational series and we are going to try to make it a step ahead of any local race. If you have any questions or sugestions or want to help, see me at the races. Have fun and best of luck.

I can under stand making the nationals bigger and better which might help get more T.V. coverage...but it is kinda dicuraging to go to the first race and have to totaly change all my numbers which I have earned in ama district events .
Not to say that there are many more local events in AMA districts then in the national so can there be a happy middle i do thinks so...maybe we can sit down and discuse it further....will be at the KY national next weekend..just e-mail me if any suggestion..

I don't know much about atv racing, but I use to roadrace motorcycles. Everybody was cheating, if you weren't cheating, it was obvious. By the time you got to the first corner, you would be last. We had the same type of protest rules, but they were rarely enforced. I did my share of cheating also, and won my share of races. I wish that the rules would have been enforced though because it keeps the costs down. It got to be so sickening that I gave up and bought some quads. They are more fun anyway. Gabe...How many years have you raced quads?
