Questions For Those Who Went to the Macon Nat'l.

Thanks to those who posted some of the results. I can't believe how long it takes most of the ATV web sites to post the results themselves.
Anyway, I was wondering if this race was held at the sandy track or the original location from last year? What was the track layout like? Elevation changes? Supercross style jumps or more tradional outdoor layout? Were many of the pro quads using the new holeshot MX front tire? Or for that matter how about the holeshot MX on the rear? Since I couldn't attend I would like as much information as possible, thanks.

The track was awesome. It was at Echeconnee, the one they raced last year. Not a whole lot of big jumps. Out of the starting gate there was a 90 left and the n a right. Then it was a hairpin with a straightaway. Alot of hairpins. A couple of whoop sections, the first section was a set of big whoops and then went up and around to a Double that mainly the pros and pro ams were doing. then a studder section, a small double, and the a huge one only pros were even attempting. Then went to a small downhill double, if you wanna call it that. Then some more hairpins up and down hill, the last one was an up hill double. then around and down to a small single, and a small souble with a table top built at the end. then a whoop section then a small double for the finishline jump. All in all, it was awesome. Got rutted up BAD to the point there straightaways were little whoop sections. AS far as tires, most ran turf tamers and Holeshot MX rears. Shane Hitt ran the new MAxxis Razr rears - 18x10x8 I think. First moto, Hitt pulled the holeshot with those tires. Weather was great, atmosphere was great too. 1 thing I font agree with is the top 10 pros not having to qualify, it doesnt give the nobody's a chance to get into the line up only having the 1 qualifier. I was impressed with the #101 rider in the wualifier though, he rides for K&K ATV and is from Ohio, cant remember his name. He lead most of the qualifier up until about the last couple of laps. It was and exciting experience to race their and, even though it was a 15 hour drive for me, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Blodg500rx,
There were a pretty good mix between front radials and the new holeshot fronts. It was the first time I have seen the holeshot fronts in person and I believe I will switch to them once my Kumho radials wear out. They are shorter than the radials and with all the sand tracks around my area they should grab much better than the radials. The new Maxxis mx tire looked good, too. Gust and Hitt both had them on their quads. Spader and a few others were running the holeshot rears. I've tried them and they hook up and slide good but both pairs I've had one of the tires is much bigger than the other. Also, Nac's Racing had to have the nicest and most professional looking setup at the race. Hopefully, atvscene will hook us up with some pictures soon.

I went this past weekend, I had a blast. This was my first national race, it was a new experience. I found out some pretty big differences between local tracks and national-the whole track was ruts by the 2nd half of the race, and the starting gate was a little different too. There's a big rut right behind where your rear tires are, so you have to get like a half tire length from the gate nearly. No easing up while the 1 card is sideways on this one. But anyway, mdegain described it pretty well, there weren't any really big jumps. The key to winning that race was endurance. I raced in the 4 stroke C class and got a 4th in the 1st moto, 4th in the 2nd moto, and 5th overall. Not too bad I didn't think for my first national.

Thanks for the info I am thinking about switching to the holeshot MX tires front and rear. I would like to know if any of the pros or any of you are running the HiPer carbon fiber wheels. I would like to get some, but want to know if anybody has any experiences good or bad with them.
