Am I too old?
#1
I just starting riding about 2 years ago on a 2000 Blaster and I quickly grew out of that. I now own a full race '87 250r and I will be racing the entire season this year in both district 5 an 12. My question is, being that I am 22 years old is it too late to really pursue racing to a pro or pro-am level. I understand the time and money involved in reaching that level, but my main concern is age.
Can any experienced racers give some opinions. Any and all would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is Doug Gust too old?
I read somewhere he is like 34 or something! That sure gave me a positive outlook!
The only sucky thing about the age deal is when you get hurt, the effects seem to linger for a bit longer. Instead of a one day recovery, it usually takes me 'til about wednesday... Of course I have a loafer desk job, if I had a more active job, things would stay pretty loose.

You can never be too old to race. You are only as old as you feel.I'm in the same boat as you.I didn't get started riding until I was 17 and never raced until I was 19.I'm now 22 and want to race nationals. If you want to be a pro, go for it. Put in the seat time, train, race, and work as hard as you can toward your goal and you will see results. What class or classes are you going to run at nationals this year?

Sorry to say but beans road bike park don't allow quads. However within 10 miles of there, there are 2 other ama tracks that do. Broken Spokes and Crow Canyon both allow quads. I have ridden both and they are completely different from each other. Crow canyon is a long natural style track where as broken spokes is a shorter supercross style track. About 25 miles from here is Scenic Highlands. It is a long national style track and is very wide. Good for passing. I have had fun at all of them. The variety is good. If you plan on racing any of these tracks get a hold of me on here and I can get you some directions.
