A couple more R ?'s

almost any honda chassis part will fit another honda including shocks especialy. 400ex's, 250r's, 300ex's, and 250x's are all compatible for shocks.even though everybody already said that 10 times

Well I will try to address your original question since this conversation has gotten so sidetracked. The front shocks will bolt up directly, the a-arms in turn will fit, but as for the rear shock it will not work. They changed the linkage setup on the 400 and the 250r rear wont fit it. As for changing over to a thumper, if you are really disgusted with working a 2 strokes then go to a thumper. You shouldnt worry about what people say, you should ride and race what you want. Although I am a die hard 2 stroke man I know I will be on a thumper eventually, unless someone has the ***** to produce a new one. But the 2 strokes are definetly outdated and I have accepted the fact they will be gone soon. Hope I helped

I love my 2-stroke too, but damnit it keeps freaking breaking down. Like I said, I sent it off for a total bottom end rebuild and I just got my LRD 265 top-end today, so when I get it back, I wil get it back in the bike and see what happens.
I cant see going to a 400ex over my R, but I may be forced to. Those 15 year old motors just dont hold up real well anymore I dont think. Sure, if you want to replace EVERYTHING inside them then they wont break down as often, but thats probably more costly than its really worth.
What about a 350x motor compared to the 400ex, does it compare at all powerwise?

Well if you are tired of the old worn out engines, as you have stated above, then the 350x is NOT your best bet. Although the 350x motor is very comparible in power to the 400, it is also very old and worn out. I have seen some 350 crate motors that have never been started for sale, but never for less than $1500. I too am worried about what thumper to go to because it seems like the 400ex is the bandwagon bike know and everyone has to have one. I am excited to see what to new suzuki thumper will be like, but it will probably be another let down like the rest of them. One other option you have is to spend about $20000 building a yzf426 or 400, but only a privelaged few get this chance either with a little luck or a lot of money. I hate to admit it but from what you have stated a tricked out 400ex is probably your best bet if you REALLY want a thumper.
So get the R running again(by the way that 265 kit is awesome)and get some of that 2 stroke blood running through ya bones. Only you know what you want. Let us know what you decide(and how you like the 265 kit).

Since I am having my entire bottom end rebuilt, frame painted and what not, I wont know how I like my 265 till probably this winter. But, I did ride a friends quad with a 265 and it freaking ripped. My stock, mildly ported R couldnt even compare. To be honest, his was almost like having a 4-stroke, you pushed the throttle and it just went, TONS of low end. LRD said thats how mine should be as well, so I will hopefully LOVE it!
As for the 350x motor, I know a guy who has an old 350x three wheeler that has only got about 20 hours on it MAX, he was the original owner and NEVER rides. He told me he would sell it Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word , so I was kind of thinking about buying it just to mess around on.
But, I passed.
Thanks for the advice, I will be sure and let you all know how the 265 does when I get it going!
