I have a friend at work tody saying he used to race 3-wheelers and had a 250r that produced like 115 HP.?? This seems a little steep to me. He also mentioned someone doing a flat spin on a three- wheeler in front of him on a track in Tampa. Curtis Sparks was ther racing also. Do this seem believable ? I must know some HP numbers...

 

K and T has built a 100HP one, but i heard it was the bigest HP proven. It was only a drag bike

 

Stock R cylinder? Stock stroke? Stock rod length? What fuel?

I am sure some of the aftermarket can hit 100. Maybe even the newer CR's.

I would say mid to high 70's on alky with a stock cylinder.

 

You cant squeeze 100 hp out of 250 cc its just not possible . I think people mean 100 hp out of a 250 r chassis not cylinder. And a bike being a drag bike has nothing to do with horsepower just its lighter so the hp it does have is more efficient.

Well I have evrything you can possibly get for an lt250r. lrd pipe, porting, head work(190 psi),hot rods, rad valve& reeds, pwk carb.,and modified piston. I cant think of anything else id be able to do exept maybe NOS, but thats not everyday hp or very reliable. A stock lt 250 has less than 30 hp , i think its like 26 or something like that. The guy that built my motor says he put a 250r motor he built for a pro rider on a dyno and it had about 50 hp. I got my cylinder resleeved and asked him to over bore it and he said it wasnt worth it cuz the hp gains woulnd be less than like 10 hp. Also If i blew my motor it would need to be resleeved cuz id be on my last bore. Yeah if you are measuring hp from the crank it would be significantly higher than at the wheels where it counts.

 

well...what do you expect...it is a LT250...not quite the caddy of 250's in its day. lets not forget the added HP you can get from aspiration...I.E fuel management, exhaust mods. drop injectors on a 250 and good port work, run it on laughin gas, with crank case stuffers balance out the motor (use equal weight bearings), and you can get 100hp from 250cc's. just depends on how much $$$ and time you are willing to spend. talk to dean sundahl his banshee is hitting over 80HP on STOCK rods, with slight overbore, naturally aspirated on race gas. he machines his own stuffers, does his own port and balance work. not many banshee's at glamis can touch him, and he only runs knobbies

 

100hp doesn't sound too radical at all.
Heck, getting a little over 80rwhp out of a 250R isn't really that hard without alky

 

My neighbors 86' atc250r he said makes around 65hp?? stock cylinder, custom dome, shaved cool head, bored over, methonal, 37mm keihnen, advanced timing, custom porting (drag only), etc etc etc.. he is going to buy this other thing for i believe $500.. electronic system instead of all the weight inside the case supossed to make 5-10 more hp and then he's getting a ftz drag pipe, bigger carb, and some other stuff.. his bike is sweet, just got it back from powder coat !

 

i dont know about a 250, but there are 500+cc cylinders out for the 250r now. Last i heard they were producing 80+ hp on gas with no portwork and a pipe that wasnt working to well. So 80+ hp should be capable out of a 250 if it is perfectly tuned in, and 100hp should be possible with a 3??cc cylinder. But i dont knnow much about 250rs.
