what is a good way to get started in the racing business? is it just to show up at a race and do your best or should you do something special?

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, then go to a race and see how you do. First race, dont try and win, dont even try and pass people. Just ride your own pace and see what happens. But just make sure you are in shape. I went o my first MX race 2 weeks ago and was so dead after just one lap. Its amazing. I went there with the goal of not wrecking, I didnt care where I finished. I ended up running in 6th getting ready to pass 5th and 4th before stalling and not being able to get restarted due to a dead battery. After a couple races, then you can even get some sponsors and stuff. Then you're in I guess.
