Need some advice. I have ridden ATV's for 18 years from my first ATC90 to my latest 400ex. I want to take the plunge into ATV racing. I'm tired of just reading about it in magazines. Motorcross and Harescramble/CC racing is what I want to do. What's the best way to get started? My 400ex is stock except for the addition of nerf bars. Can I take my bike to a mx track and race it as is? I'm not at all concerned about winning just finishing! What other things should I do to it?

For Harescramble/CC I would like to run a 4x4. Any suggestions? I'm thinking a Rancher or BigBear/Kodiak. I don't really want a Polaris. I have owned them and think they are good machines but don't like their bull legged seating arrangement - it's just too tuff on my hips. If I ran the 400ex in HS/CC what would need to be done?

I have a full compliment of riding gear - helmet, chest protector, pants, thor boots, gloves etc. I also like riding with a kidney belt. Anything else?

For HS and CC racing, with your experiance. You should be able to walk right in and compete. But for MX, if you have never rode on a MX track before. I would suggest taking some practice laps before you decide to race MX. It is harder than it looks. But nothing some practice can't cure. Last but not least.....Have some fun......

Welcome to the world of racing......
