hd hero mount question

I got a non-HD GoPro Hero. I mounted it on my helmet and did a video. I used 3M double stick tape and it has held very well. This is the video I took with the helmet mount: YouTube - Cathole Road I recommend being the last rider in the group so you don't feel like turning around and looking to see if people are making it through or not. Also, learn to move your eyes rather than your whole head. I tried the same camera on my front rack extension when we did a winter ride. The video came out pretty good except that the engine was interfering with the camera's electronics and caused a high pitched sound. So, I think the helmet mount might be best. Have someone aim it better than I did, while you are sitting on your quad and looking forward. PS The camera eats batteries fast. I ended up buying a bunch of NiMH rechargeables. They will last about a half hour at most. When I change the batteries out I put in a new memory card too. 1GB are dirt cheap now and you'll get about a half hour of video depending on your resolution.

Bushwacking and Water Wheelies
Here is some footage from last Weekends ride in the Cloyne area. All shot with my GoPro HD Helmut Hero Camera I bought a few weeks ago. You will see that I am continuously getting hit by branches sticks etc and slamming around and the camera does not budge. It is mounted with the 3M stickies that come with it. I usually have it on top of my helmut, but it is just as solid mounted on the side. The rechargable batteries I have last for over 2 1/2 hrs and I have two of them. All these video's were shot on the same day with one battery and I still had plenty of power left. There are another 5 - 6 video's I shot that are not included here in addition to the ones below. I have the 16 GB card and it was only about 1/4 full with all these video's.
The first Video going through the trench is the deepest I have ever been. If we would have stopped we would have gone under for sure......enjoy...

Here's a Pic of my camera. I also have a bracket to mount it on the side. One hint....make sure the camera is pointing slightly up and not level. When you lean forward to grab the handlebars, it will make the camera point a little to much towards the ground. Also, I just use WVGA resolution setting to keep the file sizes low. If you set it for any of the HD resolutions your files will be huge in no time unless you make very short films. Mine are usually around 5 minutes or so and most of the files are about 370 - 500 MB. The same length in HD would probably be at least a GB or more. Takes approx 45 minutes to upload a five minute file to YouTube.
