I have owned both. The 300 is a better bike than the 250 in every aspect. The 250's only advantage is semiautomatic shifting for beginners, and shaft drive if you ride a lot of mud/water. But, why stop there. Why not a 400????

I bought the 300EX 2 weeks ago and its my first quad, and my dad bought the 250EX, I just like the feel of the ride on the 300EX over the 250EX, but I like the automatic cluctch on the 250EX, I was thinking about the 400EX also but I kinda like having Reverse which the 400 doesn't have, it comes in quite handy when you ride on trails, and I felt the 300 had plenty of power im 6 feet 180 pounds and the 300 took me up every hill I threw at it with out any problems, and when i gunned it there was plenty of power to let me go as fast as the trail would safely let me.

If you are smaller, the 300 is a good choice. It is the ultimate trail bike, because it is so compact. The power is pretty tame, but it mods up pretty well. It is a little tippy, because of the balooney tires (so is the 250). I would replace them ASAP.

Don't jump a 250EX alot either. It bottoms out quite easily over modest jumps....I guess thats because I'm over 200lbs too...lol.
I fixed that problem with a bigger atv! I still would rather ride the 250EX in the trails (compared to my KFX400)!

How does the 300ex jump. Can you get pretty big air on it.

I actually enjoyed jumping the 300. Its small size allowed me to wrestle it around in the air, and it is well ballanced. Except for power, it jumps as well as the 400EX.
