i currently have a 03 blaster and really want a z. one of the reasons i want it is because i love the way it looks, and no one where i live has a z. my one friend has a 03 raptor with a yoshi slip on. i i get the z witha full yoshi pro series exhuast will i be keepin up with him speed wise. i no a raptor goes 72 or there abouts, how fast does a z go stock?

My Z has a full exhaust and K&N. It keeps up with my friends STOCK Raptor. The Z's strong point is great handling, not super speed.

reconranger-are you happy with your z or do you wish you had a raptor, ds, predator, or v force, or something bigger. and i feel stupid asking this because i no there is to many variables, but is the z400 right behind the raptor in speed, like does the z go approx 70 and the raptor approx 72 or something close like that?

I picked the Z as the best all around bike. The Raptor power is nice, but it is to narrow and top heavy for my taste. The DS is just to big and heavy. Never ridden the Pred or V.

In fifth gear pinned down a desert wash, the Raptor and DS will slowly walk away from me.

Rider, a Z is pretty much going to keep up with everything until it tops out about 70 mph. Then the bigger bikes will pull away, since they go about 5 mph more. Ask yourself how important is that? I say not really, since most riding is done between 2nd - 4th gears anyway. If you want bragging rights on top speed, get a bigger bike (Raptor, Predator, DS) or change the gearing. The handling of the Z is good, and a few mods on it and it will perform well for you in any terrain.

I personally do not like the Z. I feel that the front end is way to light. If I were forced to buy a four stroke, I would buy the Predator. My friend just got one. What a sweet bike. Handles everything smoothly. We did a drag race down my street and the stock polaris smoked my friends Z which has a full yoshi pipe, alba perfect jet kit, and pro flow intake.
The stock predator was only 5 bikes behind my Banshee!

The race was on a level asphalt road for about two blocks. I thought my Banshee would destroy the Predator, by more than 5 bikes at least. I'm curious how this Predator will do up Comp Hill at Dumont. We will find out Halloween.

I'd have to say skip the predator and the Z and look at the YFZ450. There expensive right now but if you wait a year or so used ones will go cheap. They handle really nice too. Really Really light also 70lbs lighter than the Predator and 50lbs lighter than the warrior. Yamaha did a good job making the YFZ but i can't wait for the TRX to come out and see how it compares
