Hi All

I am looking to purchase a newer ATV, around a 2002. I have got about $6000 to spend.

I want a 4 stroke.

Which one do you suggest?

I do like the 400 EX.

By the way, i will be using the quad for racing within the UK

why a z-400?

 

Are you racing in a 450cc & under class?

 

In the UK you are all in one class

 

Look at the Polaris Predator. It is very fast and has a great suspension package.

The EX is more reliable than the Z-400 or Predator, mainly because of the lower-tech engine. The only advantage I see the Z having is reverse because of the stupid weak frame design. I think they may have fixed that problem on the 2004 models, but I wouln't buy a Z used at all, because in the first year they had swingarm and axle bending and breaking problems too.

So, if you want more speed, better suspension, better everything, but no reverse, get the Predator. If you want something that is a good trail quad because of reverse and has a little more power than the 400EX, but isn't good for jumping unless you gusset the frame (excluding the 04's), get the Z. And if you want to get one that's reliable, torquey, with a tougher frame and the best handling, get the EX. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
