I have been looking at new atv's now for a month and i am still having problems deciding. my first thought is just to get the yfz. i love yamaha. but when i go to the alba web site they have a pretty sweet looking z400. they also have a raptor that i dont like the plastics on but it comes for the same price as yamaha with a pipe, already jetted, and also has a spark arrestor (but i really dont like the graphics. the last thing on that web site that i love is the 400cc warrior new. the only problem there is that it is like 300 extra dollars from a stock warrior from yamaha. i will leave the links here look at them and tell me what you think
go to the alba website and then click atv and you will see the z400 and raptor on the right side of the page and the warrior will be at the top of the page under specialty atv's
Alba web site
and as you all the know you can see the yfz right on the yamaha web site

My friend... please do not be fooled by graphics kits. All the flash in the world will not allow that Z400 catch the YFZ. Simply remove the air box lid and spark arrestor from the YFZ and enjoy.
It will not, repeat, will not contend with the YFZ. The YFZ, in the opinion of many is a different class bike. It sounds as if you're not certain which "class" of machine to purchase. I'd recommend getting the 450-class machine that is built that way from the factory if your budget allows.
If I can add only another bit of encouragement...
Imagine for a moment you can afford any of the machines you've listed...
Imagine you select something other than the YFZ.
Imagine riding at your local trail/dune/whatever and seeing the YFZ ripping past (assuming the rider has skills equal to or lesser than your own).
Imagine what you'll feel after that occurs - and it will.
Several months or more ago, the option of the YFZ was not possible. It's a new day. Things change.
I might also suggest not getting into debt more than you can reasonably handle which would be the only case for any of the other machines, better yet the stock versions of them.
I only mention the YFZ because you did. Judging by your post, (I read it again) it sounds as if your budget will not allow the YFZ.

Well said Selector. The YFZ will outperform all 400's and it's only match now is the TRX450R. The Z400vsYFZ is like Warriorvsbanshee. Nothing against the Z400 but....... i can't get the words out but bottom line YFZ hauls in every aspect. They Z400 does look good buy the YFZ has that super sweet raptor style lights! its a joy to look at
