400ex or z400?
the z beats the ex in all those categories. Better quad, newer technology, better all around buy. I owned an ex before i bought the z, and found minimum comparison, the z blows the ex out of the water with overall performance. mod it up a bit, and you have yourself a fast quad.

400ex or z400?
Hey Recon ranger, this is Paul from Redlands, we talked a while back. I am getting ready to buy the 04 z400, just wanted to ask you a question. How are you doing a fuel consumption w/the z? With the small 2.6 gallon fuel tank, I was weary of how long it goes on rides. I know it is much lighter than most other quads so could you give me a heads up. I looked into a company that builds an aftermarket tank for the z which raises the capacity to 3.6 gallons. Let me if you go thru fuel alot. Thanks

dusty, 04 s have the fixed frame, also the late 03 s have the correction as well.
there is no difference between the z/kfx/dvx quads, except their looks.
and mongo, i have found the z fuel consumption to be slightly better than the ex was, i can go about 90 miles on a tank and reserve going average 3rd gear speed, about 100 on easy wide riding, and about 60 or so with slow revving riding. I have had no problems or concerns about running out of gas on the trails, but if you plan on long trips, that 3.6 would look nice
