Z400 price help!

Am I losing my mind or is my dealer way too high, in more ways than one
Seriously, he quotes me $5900 plus tax for an '04 and $5600 plus tax
for his remaining '03. WTF! I've read other posts where guys are
buying these for under $5400 OTD with regularity. What am missing?
I told him my friend bought a Prairie 650 from him for a grand under retail
and he tells me "yeah, well I don't make as much on the sport quads so
I can't discount 'em."
Seriously, what are some common prices on a new Z? Also, he told me
I had to pay shipping charges? Not shipping it to me, but what they pay
shipping it from Suzuki. Is that right??
Thanks!

prices vary from state to state possibly even county to county. shop around for a better price you may have to travel a good ways but you need to figure out if saving $500 or more is worth the trouble of taking a road trip.
i don't know anyone who has bought an 04, mine is an 03 and i payed 5500 OTD, i probably could have gotten a better price than that but i have no regrets.

I think your greatest savings comes from not getting charged the setup, destination, freight charges..
I purchased my 2 kids 4-wheelers more than 4 hrs away because no dealer in town or even the next city
wanted to deal. they all wanted msrp plus the other charges, I was able to find the two I purchased below
msrp and no dealer prep fees.. I figure I saved atleast 800.00-1,000 after all was done, thats $$
I could use on other things..

When i bought my 03 z, in late july, i paid a shade under 5 grand for it, and belive me, i shopped around for a good 3 weeks before i found this price. And that 300 mile drive to me, was worth the 700-800 dollar saving i was making from buying near where i live.
All i can suggest to you, is shop around, dont rush into anything, and find a better price. 03 s should be around the 5 grand mark this time of year since dealers are making room for the new 04s.

I thought the extended warranty is only a few hundred bucks, making the 04 a better deal.
Also, from what it sounds like people have been paying, you should push for <$5k pre tax for a 2004 (but with all the fees and junk), though tax might take you over the $5k mark...slightly (before ext. warranty).
