Default Why aren't yfz 450's more popular?

I sold my 400ex and I am getting ready to buy a new/used one. I was wondering why more people don't ride the yfz 450. The reviews are great. Is it just the price or is it the quad?

It was price with me i wanted a good handling sport quad that was fast, and mx ready right out of the box.. i went with the predator for the price and it had what i wanted.. If i had the extra cash to burn i would have went with the YFZ, i got an 04 TLD pred $1,400 cheaper then a YFZ...

It has to do with cost and I wanted a used one, and there aren't many used YFZ's.

That really depends on whats important to you. It would take a lot more money to make the kawisukicat competitive with a stock yfz than it the difference in msrp.

If you are a trail rider, then no, it probably isnt the most cost effective solution. But that doesnt mean that people wont buy it because it is the newest and baddest.

Its funny the way people love to hate anything new that thrashes all the competition..
OF COURSE it's worth the money..stock bike for stock bike, the yfz IS the best bike out there..

As others have said, price is high... I for one am holding out for reverse and electric start... The only shortcomings that are consistantly given by every test I have read... I know guys will say that it is a race machine.. well, I say include it then take it off if you don't need it. There are some of us old guys with handicaps that make it impossible to kick start a bike... And reverse is just so damn convenient... and for you guys that decry electric start... if I was racing you, and we both stalled in a corner, and I had electric start, and you didn't... I would beat you every time.. because there is not a manual start on the planet that can re-start as quick as I can pull the clutch and punch a button...

The yfz has electric start. The kick is an option. The honda r has kick only.
